CosmoQuest is your place to learn and do science. This privately funded project is providing unfiltered updates on developments in space science from around the world. From climate change to planetary exploration to the origins of the universe, we help you understand today’s latest science and what it means to humans here on Earth. Check out our flagship news show, Escape Velocity Space News, wherever you get podcasts. CosmoQuest also has a diverse Discord community where all are welcome, and the concepts of diversity and inclusion are baked into how we support one another through kindness, content, and mentoring. How much we're able to accomplish is up to you. Goal - $2,000/month: Just the Basics CosmoQuest is a not-for-profit science and science communications project based out of the Planetary Science Institute, a 501(c)3. We fund our programs through a combination of donations & sponsorships, Twitch, and Patreon (learn more). If we can hit our funding goals, including $2000/month here on Patreon, all our basic costs will be covered. These include project management and general community updates (Pamela), production of 22 episodes of EVSN (Pamela, Ally, Erik), all software and server costs, and 30% overhead to PSI to cover accounting, payroll, HR, and additional software like Mailchimp, Trello, and Google Workspace. Stretch Goal - $2,500/month: We take you to Artemis II While it's possible to produce science news programming without ever leaving the comfort of our home offices, the best coverage comes from being there in person. Help us get our team members to the Artemis 2 launch (Pamela and Erik have already applied for press credentials). For an additional $500 a month, we will fly Pamela and Erik to Florida for the Artemis 2 launch for 1 week, including a rental car, hotel, and meals. Any remaining funds will be put toward attending a science conference (more below). This budget assumes Artemis II launches during Spring Break, as planned. A later, off-season launch could cost a lot less to attend. Stretch Goal - $3,000/month: Science Conferences Live Pamela was one of the journalists who innovated live coverage of science conferences back in the early days of Twitter and the heyday of blogging. We want to get back to our roots with our video cameras in hand and phones at the ready. You can make this possible. For an additional $500 a month, we will fly Pamela to 2-3 conferences, and cover her meals, ground transportation, and hotel. and for every additional $500... Shorts & more Creating content - especially short-form content - takes time. Ultimately, we are here to bring you the best content we can, and as our budget grows beyond what is needed to survive, to include what is needed to survive, we will commit ourselves to bringing you more. With $500, Pamela can produce 2 shorts a month. With $2,500, we can produce 1 additional episode of EVSN. This means that for every additional $500 per month or $6000 per year, we can add 1 more episode to our season and promise you 14 shorts.
